Welcome to our Sundew Plant Garden Experiment
This bloody plant eats bugs by trapping them in glue-covered tenticles. The tenticles move to cover the bug once it is stuck.
Sticky tenticles move to trap mosquito and push the prey down toward the digestive glands on the leaf.
The mosquito is sucked dry by this meat-eating plant! Nothing but mosquito bones left after a week!
Sundews love humidity moisture so gently misting them with distilled water or rain water ((not tap water!!!!)) will help them grow. Do not over spray, however as the leaves will adsorb the water and turn yellow from too much water! Keep the growing medium (usually peat moss) moist. Do not allow it to dry out. Just mist once per day. Grow these in the shade and keep temperature above 40 F. (not sure how will react to freezeing).
The plant is currently in a north-facing window and receives plenty of day light (not direct sunlight!!!!). Low temp has been 40 F in the window where plant is located.
