Tech Tip: Solar panels should be mounted facing SOUTH if you live in North America (USA). Mount solar panels where shade will not block sunshine.

Tech Tip: Want just a wee bit more power from your solar panel? Mount it on a bright white base, such as a piece of wood painted white. The white ground will reflect more light than if just placed on the green grass or a darker concrete surface.

Tech Tip: Want even more power from your solar panel? Mount a flat mirror (same size as solar panel) so it reflects extra sunlight on to your panel. This will effectively double the sunlight hitting the solar panel.

Tech Tip: These silicon solar panels will produce some power on overcast days too because they extract electricity from the full 400 - 900 nanometer sunlight spectrum, including the 700 - 900 near infra-red range.

Tech Tip: Convert a fluoresent tube camping lantern to work as a solar powered light, or purchase pre-made 12-volt DC fluoresent fixture.
